Chocolate Coated Popcorn

Are you looking for something new and delicious to snack on?

Chocolate is a great treat to enjoy but sometimes it can get a bit boring. If you're looking for something unique, why not try making chocolate popcorn at home?

This easy-to-make recipe is sure to become your new favourite treat. It combines two beloved snacks, popcorn and chocolate, in one delicious bite. Not only is it full of flavour, but it's also quick and easy to make.

Our Skinny Chocaholic Chocolate Syrups

Our Skinny Chocaholic Collection & Syrups that launched in 2022 are fan favourites, they come in a range of flavours from chocolate orange to chocolate caramel and even Turkish delight, meaning there are endless possibilities of flavours to use to create your chocolate-coated popcorn.

Serves: 2 | Prep Time: 8 Minutes | Calories: 160 Kcal Per Serving

To make your own chocolate popcorn, all you'll need is:

  • 2 tablespoons of Skinny Chocaholic Syrup (flavour of your choice)
  • 4 cups of popcorn kernels
  • Vegetable oil
  • A pinch of salt

Method:

This is probably one of the quickest, healthiest snacks to enjoy at home, whether you want a big bowl of popcorn for movie night or are just looking for a post-holiday treat.

Step 1: In a large deep pan, add the oil and unpopped kernels. Cover with a lid and add to medium heat. The normal corn kernels should begin popping after a few minutes. Shake the pan often to ensure no kernels stick to the bottom and prevent burning.

Step 2:  Once the popcorn has quietened this indicates it's stopped popping and can be removed from the heat.

Step 3: Place the popped kernels onto a lined baking tray using baking paper.

Step 4: Use your choice of Skinny Chocolate Sauce (for this recipe we've used our favourite chocaholic honeycomb syrup)and drizzle over, creating delicious chocolate-drizzled popcorn. You can choose how coated you would like your homemade chocolate popcorn by adding more or less sauce.

Step 5: Add a pinch of salt to the mixture and mix well.

Step 6: Pour into a bowl and enjoy!

Why is popcorn such a healthy snack?

Popcorn is a great snack to enjoy as it's low in calories and fat, high in fibre and contains antioxidants. It's also a whole grain, meaning it's packed with vitamins and minerals. Eating popcorn can help you feel fuller for longer, making it the perfect snack to enjoy when you're feeling peckish.

Chocolate popcorn is a great way to enjoy the health benefits of popcorn while also indulging in a sweet treat. It's also a great snack to make with kids as it's quick and easy, plus they can get creative with their own flavour combinations.

If you're looking for something special to serve at your next gathering, why not try making chocolate popcorn? You can even add extra toppings such as mini marshmallows or our Chocaholic Chocolate Drops for the ultimate luxury treat.
