It's the most wonderful time of the year - but you know what really makes Christmas extra special and extra wonderful, the food!
So, on that note, we thought we'd treat you to some delicious, festive and healthy alternative recipes which we guarantee will be a new Christmas tradition.
1. Prosciutto and Mozzarella Sticks
Ingredients
1 120g pack of mozzarella pearls (drained weight)
6 slices of Prosciutto ham (halved)
12 basil leaves
12 cocktail sticks
Method
1. Take your basil leaves and mozzarella balls and stick a cocktail stick through them both.
2. Wrap the other side of the basil leaf over the mozzarella balls.
3. Cutting the Prosciutto Ham in half width ways, fold this up into bit size pieces and add to the end of the cocktail stick.
We've served these with our delicious Zero Calorie Garlic Mayo as an amazing dip. These are only 44 calories per stick! These also contain only 0.4 grams of carbs, 3.3grams of fat and 3.7 grams of protein!
2. Chocolate Cookie Truffles
Ingredients
1 pack SFC Edible Cookie Dough
25ml coconut oil (melted)
45ml water
40g SFC Salted Caramel spread
40g SFC Chocaholic Mint spread
40g SFC White Chocaholic spread
1 pack of SFC Milk Choc Crispies
1 pack of SFC White Choc Crispies
20g chopped hazelnuts
Method
- Follow the instructions on our low sugar Edible Cookie Dough mix packet.
- Crush up your White and Milk Chocolate Crispies and melt the Chocoholic spread.
- Dip the cookie dough truffles into melted spread and the crispies of your choice.
- Place on a baking tray and freeze until set
These are so delicious, and for only 100 calories each! They also contain 10.3g of carbs, 5.5g of fat and 3.1g of protein!
3. Chocolate Orange Bark
Ingredients
1 jar of SFC Orange Chocaholic spread
25g salted pretzels
White chocolate Crispies
Method
- Line a baking tray with parchment paper and pour out your low sugar Orange Chocoholic spread.
- Spread evenly and add your salted pretzels all over.
- Finally, sprinkle over a packet of crushed up White Chocolate Crispies.
- Place in the freezer until set and break these into chunks.
Per 25g piece, there is only 139 calories, 14.5g of carbs, 10.3g of fat and 1.2g of protein
4. Mini Mince Pie Bites
Ingredients
1 sheet light puff pastry
180g light soft cream cheese
Mince Pies Syrup
90g mincemeat
Method
1. Slice your sheet of pastry into 18 equal squares.
2. Spray the tin with oil (we’ve used our Sunflower Oil Spray!) Add these squares into a muffin tin - one square per cup.
3. Add the light cream cheese to a mixing bowl and use the Skinny Food Co sugar free Mince Pie Syrup and mix!
4. Add a spoonful of this mixture into each pastry square and top with the mincemeat.
5. Cook for 25 minutes on a 200 degree heat.
This is such a great twist on a classic mince pie - a lighter, less calorific version. We just couldn’t say no to second helpings here at Skinny Food HQ!
These light treats contain only 88 calories per bite, along with 11.8 grams of carbs, 3.6 grams of fat and 2.2 grams of protein!
5. Salted Caramel Mince Pie Twists
Ingredients
1 sheet light puff pastry
100g SFC Salted Caramel spread
50ml Mince Pies CreamerMethod
- Roll out your sheet of light puff pastry on a grease proof paper lined baking tray. Cut down the middle, leaving two equal sides.
- Spread our low sugar Salted Caramel Chocoholic Spread generously over one half and top this with our sugar free Mince Pie Skinny Syrup.
- Place the other half of the light puff pastry over the top and using a pizza cutter, or a knife, cut into 14 equal strips.
- Holding a strip on both ends, twist them.
- Bake on 200 degrees for 20 minutes.
This delicious recipe makes 14 delicious crispy twists, with only 121 calories each! These also contain 14.2g of carbs, 6.8g of fat and 1.5g of protein per twist.
