Halloween Treats
Are you ready to get in the spooky mood? With Halloween on its way, that means one thing only… Hocus Pocus, looking questionable and of course, tasty food. And we’re here today to deliver. In today’s blog post, we’re going to be giving you three delightful recipes that’ll have you in the creepy mood sooner than you planned.
1) Banana Ghosts
Ingredients:
4 firm bananas cut into thirds
200g The Skinny Food Co Chocaholic White Chocolate Spread, melted
Milk or dark chocolate chips for the mouths
1 cup desiccated coconut
Edible googly eyes
Wooden skewers
Directions:
-Peel the bananas, and chop off one of the ends on all. Then, put the remaining ends on the wooden skewers, before slathering our Low Sugar Chocolate Spread all over.
-Holding the stick, roll the chocolatey bananas in the desiccated coconut until fully covered.
-Lastly, add the eyes & chocolate chips for mouths and there you have it, banana ghosts!
2) Toffee Apples
Ingredients:
6 apples (red)
350g The Skinny Food Co Chocaholic White Chocolate Spread, melted
50ml of Toffee Apple Syrup
3 drops red food colouring (liquid)
Wooden skewers
Directions:
-Take off the stalks of your apples, before adding in wooden skewers to the top of the apples.
-Melt our Low Sugar White Chocolate Spread, and then spoon over the sauce onto all of the apples.
-Pop the apples in the freezer for 15 minutes or in the fridge for an hour to set.
-While the apples are setting, pour our Zero Calorie Syrup and food colouring into a bowl to mix well.
-Get the apples out of the fridge and start drizzling over the syrup mixture to make an eyeball effect. For a better and more bloody effect, add more of the syrup mixture on top of the syrup that has set.
3) Devilled Eggs
Ingredients:
12 eggs
Red, orange, green or black food colouring, or a mixture
1-4 tbsp vinegar
3 tbsp The Skinny Food Co Zero Calorie Garlic Mayo, plus extra if the eggs are large
A generous serving of smoked paprika
A few tarragon sprigs, finely chopped (optional)
Directions:
-Hard boil your eggs until fully cooked through. Then, get two bowls of cold water, add two tbsp of vinegar to each bowl, before adding your food colouring to both bowls (different colours) and mix until fully opaque.
-Drain the eggs, then add them to a pan full of cold water. Once cool, add them to the food colouring mixtures. At this step, you can either leave them in the water overnight, turning them occasionally or you can pierce holes in the shells so that the food colouring reaches the egg quicker.
-Once inside, crack the shells off and half the eggs, before scooping out the yolks with a spoon into a bowl. Add our Skinny Paprika, as well as our Low Calorie Garlic Mayo (to warn those vamps off) and mash well.
-Add the mixture back into the egg whites. Lastly, sprinkle your tarragon on top.
