Skinny Food Staff Shine in Charity Football Tournament for the Tom Maccabee Fund - theskinnyfoodco

Skinny Food staff took part in a charity fundraiser football tournament for the Tom Maccabee Fund.

The Macca's Summer tournament, organised by Tom's friends and held a few weeks ago, raised a net £1710. This generous amount has just been transferred to Hope for Children to support the Girls United Project in Uganda, a cause we actively helped fund and establish!

The Tom Maccabee Fund honours the memory of Tom Maccabee, a former West Bridgford Colts Player, tragically lost in a car accident on December 21st, 2014. Ever since that fateful day, family and friends, in collaboration with West Bridgford Colts, have been working tirelessly to raise funds for projects aimed at providing football opportunities to those who might not otherwise have the chance to play.

Thanks to the efforts of the Tom Maccabee Fund, a football pitch was built for a local community and orphanage in Nepal, in association with the Nepal Youth Foundation. Additionally, the Fund played a significant role in the establishment of the Girls United football team in a slum district outside of Kampala, Uganda. This empowering team was aptly named by the girls themselves, and it now has two squads: one for younger girls and another for the older girls, who proudly donated the Colts kit during their matches.

Hope for Children is an international charity committed to creating a world where every child experiences a happy, healthy childhood that prepares them for a promising future.

Given that nearly half of the world's children live in extreme poverty, Hope for Children works tirelessly to effect change. They deliver vital education, health, livelihoods, and Child Rights projects, benefitting thousands of children and families annually.

The work of Hope for Children is focused on present and future generations, aiming to achieve long-term change. By supporting today's children and tomorrow's parents, the charity is paving the way for a brighter and more promising future for all.

In collaboration with the Tom Maccabee Fund, Hope for Children is making a significant impact in the lives of young girls through the Girls United Project in Uganda.

Together, we are all contributing to the realisation of dreams and the empowerment of young girls who will shape the future. The £1710 raised through the charity football tournament is a testament to the remarkable dedication and generosity of Skinny Food staff and all those involved in this noble cause.

As we celebrate the success of the charity football tournament, let us remember that every pound donated is making a tangible difference in the lives of these girls. The Girls United Project stands as a beacon of hope, shining brightly with the promise of a brighter tomorrow.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to this incredible achievement. By supporting initiatives like Girls United, we are sowing the seeds of a better world, one filled with hope, opportunities, and possibilities for all children.

Together, we can continue to transform lives and create lasting change for generations to come.
