National Tea Day 2025

National Tea Day 2025 - theskinnyfoodco

Did you know tea is packed with health and fitness benefits?

It can boost your metabolism and support muscle recovery. And it tastes pretty good, too!

One study identified that adults who enjoy up to two cups of tea a day for over seven years have a 19 per cent lower risk of dying from a heart attack or stroke than those who drink less tea (or no tea at all.)

National Tea Day is celebrated on the 21st of April each year, and is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate this Great British beverage!

Here’s how drinking a cuppa could help you to reach your diet and fitness goals.

Stay on track with tasty teas

Weight Loss

Green tea is a great metabolism booster. Loaded with catechins (and just a touch of caffeine) it can help to increase fat burning, boost your metabolic rate, reduce cravings, and provide a low-calorie alternative to sugary drinks.

Why not try swapping your sugary afternoon snack for a cup of cold brew green tea for a quick metabolism boost? Drinking just 2.5 cups of green tea per day could help you to lose weight

If you have a sweet tooth, try sipping a fruity herbal tea to beat those late night sugar cravings.

Muscle Building

Teas like matcha and black tea contain antioxidants that support muscle recovery.

They also give you an energy boost for more intense workouts, reduce exercise-induced inflammation, and help to support your overall exercise performance.

For a long-lasting energy boost, enjoy a cup of hot black tea before you start exercising. Once you’ve finished your workout, drizzle some matcha tea syrup into your post-workout protein shake.

Drinking tea after you exercise can help to rehydrate your body, reduce inflammation, and leave you feeling re-energised and ready for your next trip to the gym.

Tea Syrups

Tea syrups are concentrated flavour bombs! And they can really make a humble cup of tea even more enjoyable.

The Skinny Food Co.’s Lemon Tea Syrup can be enjoyed hot or cold - you can use it to make a delicious healthier iced tea on a hot summer’s day, or add it to hot tea before snuggling up under a blanket during the winter months.

To make an iced tea, add one part (25ml) of tea syrup to nine parts (225ml) of iced water and mix.

For a hot drink, add one part (25ml) of tea syrup to nine parts (225ml) of boiling water and mix.

You can also use tea syrup to add flavour to sparkling soda or lemonade. Just add one part (25ml) of tea syrup to nine parts (225ml) of soda water or lemonade and mix.

You can even add our sugar-free tea syrup to your favourite cocktail.
