Kids’ Lunchbox Ideas for Busy Parents
The kids are gearing up to head back to school, and busy mums and dads everywhere are preparing for the 2024/2025 academic year.
From new school uniforms and stationery supplies to getting organised for morning routines, a parent’s to-do list can feel like it’s constantly growing.
One area that deserves extra attention is packing tasty (but healthy!) lunches and snacks your kids will look forward to and enjoy.
Research by Statista found that 93% of kids’ lunch boxes in Great Britain contained sandwiches, and 45% included a packet of crisps. Whilst these aren’t the healthiest options, choosing nutritious lunch box recipes that are quick and easy to prepare can be difficult - especially on those hectic school mornings.
But with some planning and the right recipes, you can send your children off to school with lunchbox foods and snacks that will fuel their busy days and support their overall growth and development.
One of our new favourite lunchbox ideas is the Skinny Food Co.’s High Protein Chocaholic Coated Cookie.
These delightful, guilt-free treats have a strawberry filling and a pink white chocolate coating.
Each cookie contains 10g of protein and just 137 calories, so they’re ideal if you’re looking for a child’s lunch box ideas.
Another protein-packed treat option is our Chocaholic Caramel Flavour Flapjack. These reduced-sugar versions of everyone’s favourite buttery snack are sure to be a hit with the whole family!
Here are some of our favourite school lunch and snack ideas for kids
Spread a whole grain tortilla wrap with light cream cheese or hummus. Add thin slices of lean turkey or chicken, shredded cheese, and crunchy salad leaves. Roll the wrap up tightly, then slice it into bite-sized pieces.
Layer porridge oats, chia seeds, Greek yoghurt and berries in a dish or Tupperware box. In the morning, just grab and go!
Combine oats, nut butter, honey, chia seeds and chocolate chips to create bite-sized bursts of energy that are easy to pop into your kids’ lunchboxes.
At the start of the week, hard-boil a dozen eggs, peel them and store them in the fridge. Each morning, put a couple in a container with wholegrain crackers and crudites for a protein-rich snack.
Eating well at school doesn't need to be complicated or time-consuming. With the right products in your food cupboard, ensuring your kids stay fueled and focused throughout the school year is easy.
The key to success is preparation. Spending an hour or two each weekend preparing vegetables, hard-boiling eggs, and setting up lunchbox-friendly snacks will save precious time and stress on busy school mornings.
